Social Media and its Future

Social Media is steadily evolving in this world today, more and more features are added to the mainstream networks like Facebook and Twitter. Social Media's future will change in terms of how we access the information and how we can manipulate it. They is a very promising new network in the likes of Instagram which was recently purchased by Facebook for 1Billion. Instagram allows you to ad filters and captions of any photos you have and give it that vintage black and white look of that cool 70s and 80s filter. This can be very creative for advertisers and will draw 1hundreds of millions of users like its counter parts Facebook and Twitter. The various technologies are improving in the likes of smartphones and tablets which will maximize the output of most of these social networks and social media juggernauts.  3D technologies along with hologram keyboard technologies that are in the works at the moment will be quite a phenomena to bolster the social media craze we are currently experiencing. In other words social media is expanding and has a very bright future with the upcoming technologies for the various devices and apps.

Social Media and real social change

I think social media has the potential to bring about real social change and has already done so in my opinion. For example social networks like Facebook and Twitter, with Facebook it allows you to have just about everyone in one place at a time from your significant other to a friend you made on your way home from school or work. Its almost replaces the way some people communicate with each other with wall posts and virtual ‘pokes’ also finding new friends in terms of going to social events and meeting new people instead there is a section on Facebook that show profiles of ‘people you may know’ who in other terms are completely random or someone you have not met before but you would still add them to converse. In other words some people are substituting their physical social skills to their virtual, online social skills, which could also become a problem where they would rely to much on technology to have simple person to person communication and can see that skill diminish. In terms of twitter there are various trends on a daily basis some started by very popular celebrities and can spread like wild fire. To sum up , social media does have the ability to bring about a real social change with the likes of Facebook and Twitter stemming from the way we interact with each other.

Social Media and News

Social Media has its pros and cons of the effect it has on the quality of news. I personally believe that social media has increased the quality of news due to the portable devices and smartphones with social media apps and their various capabilities. Some social networks like twitter has the ability to show real time trending topics or things happening around the world from city to city at any given time. Since twitter has a large user base stories and events happening around the world can be shared and discussed within minutes. Smartphones of today are equipped with the latest technology and apps such as CNN Mobile and The Star Mobile that allows you to get the same information and developing stories you would get from a newspaper or television broadcast more conveniently. This will intern allow you to share that information gained from reliable sources through Facebook , Twitter and all other social networks without downgrading the quality of the information.
