Social Media and News

Social Media has its pros and cons of the effect it has on the quality of news. I personally believe that social media has increased the quality of news due to the portable devices and smartphones with social media apps and their various capabilities. Some social networks like twitter has the ability to show real time trending topics or things happening around the world from city to city at any given time. Since twitter has a large user base stories and events happening around the world can be shared and discussed within minutes. Smartphones of today are equipped with the latest technology and apps such as CNN Mobile and The Star Mobile that allows you to get the same information and developing stories you would get from a newspaper or television broadcast more conveniently. This will intern allow you to share that information gained from reliable sources through Facebook , Twitter and all other social networks without downgrading the quality of the information.

  1. I liked that you added the use of smartphones, because without smartphones things like twitter would be pretty much irrelvent. People need smartphones to access the full use of twitter. with accessing the full use of twtter if your on the spot when something news breaking happens you can easily tweet about it! it is very true that you can find out news that is happening in other cities by reading their trends.

  2. I agree with that the smartphones have allowed easier and on the go access to information and with that it triggers a chain reaction as to when someone posts the feed, and millions of others jump in and start adding input.
